The ProSalus Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Alexandra (Alex) Marko BSc BVSc to its Board of Directors. With an impressive background in veterinary medicine and a deep commitment to advancing veterinary care across Africa, Dr. Marko brings invaluable expertise and passion to the foundation’s mission.

Born and raised in Namibia, Dr. Marko graduated from Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2012. She has since dedicated her career to small animal private practice in Windhoek, Namibia, specializing in emergency, critical care, and anaesthesiology. Her commitment to professional growth led her to enrol in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice through the Royal Veterinary College.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Marko has actively contributed to veterinary development across Africa. She has been involved in the AFSCAN (African Small Companion Animal Network) Twinning Project since 2018 and has served as Namibia’s AFSCAN ambassador since 2020. Additionally, she is the current chairperson of the Veterinary Association of Namibia and a member of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Therapeutics Committee.

Dr. Marko shares the ProSalus Foundation’s vision of enhancing access to high-quality veterinary care in underserved areas, particularly in disaster relief efforts. Her leadership and dedication to improving veterinary education and collaboration across Africa align seamlessly with the foundation’s mission to build capabilities and resources for sustainable advancements in veterinary medicine.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Marko to our Board of Directors,” said Dr Gabriel Varga, President of the ProSalus Foundation. “Her experience, leadership, and unwavering passion for veterinary education and care in sub Saharan Africa will be instrumental in helping us drive meaningful impact where it is needed most.
